SVTA 50MX 7.0 GOES TO SECTIONS
The SVTA 50 Mixed 7.0 team won the wild card to participate
in the Section Championships in Walnut CreeK Jan 25th - 27th. We won’t bore you with the match scores as we were happy
to play in the Section Championships since this was our first time as a team. We won three of the 9 matches that were played.
Unfortunately due to a four hour delay of the start of the match every team played one Pro set. The second day started out
the same but half way through the timing
allowed, half of the matches had to play 2 sets with no ad and a third set
tie breaker. Not the best odds for playing well but we had a good time cooling our heels in the sun and munching energy bars.
We look forward to
our next opportunity to play at this level.
Report by Captain Barbara Pahl and Co-Captain Winnie
Left to right top row: Winnie Nemiroff and husband, Corky Rosengren, Second row: Brian Dutcher,
Dana Simpson-Stokes, Randy Skidmore, Lou Knipper Bruce Lamoreaux, Barbara Pahl, Ken Stokes,
Players not shown
are John Liles, Tom Cline, Linda Anderson and Eve Priestly.
We played our last match on Friday (January 25, 2013)
at 7pm (three hour delay)
This was our first win --- #3
Doubles, so we formed a tennis arch of triumph for Lou and Brian.

Basically, you get a good court to play on.

is fully responsible for all expenses. The County does not contribute funds to the operation of Maxwell Courts.
expense is court resurfacing ($18k for three courts in May 2011). We purchase and maintain nets, windscreens, benches, etc.,
and provide a regular court cleaning service. We provide liability insurance to our members. And in addition to the maintenance of safe
courts for our members, we seek to provide programs for our members, such as sponsorship of Women's League membership, free adult clinics
and junior programs, as well as round robin socials and mixed doubles tournaments. Your dues cover these expenses.
players who regularly use the courts think Maxwell is county supported. Wrong!
SVTA Members are paying nonmembers' free ride on the courts at Maxwell. For those who don't wish to support
Maxwell, Larson Park is available and maintained by the County.
